Top Ten Books Whose Covers Made Me Buy It
Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
I love book covers, so when I heard this weeks Top Ten Tuesday theme, I was so excited!
When it comes to covers, they initially draw me to the book. However, I’m not one of those people who buys a book just because the cover is pretty. I like to read the back of the book first to check and make sure it sounds like something I would be interested in, and then buy it.
But anyway, here are the Top Ten books whose covers brought them to my attention! (The ones that aren’t out yet are ones I pre-ordered, so I figure that counts as buying 😉
Switched by Amanda Hocking
When the Trylle trilogy first came out, I saw it around Amazon but never thought much about it because the cover didn’t pull me in. Then she got new covers, and I saw them and was like, “Wow I need to read these books!” They’re so magical and pretty! So even though the old covers are still available for purchase online, I’m waiting until January so I can get a copy with the new gorgeous cover.
Halo by Alexandra Adornetto
The cover is positively beautiful. It looks like it should be a poster for a movie! It was no doubt my favorite cover for the year it came out.
Matched by Ally Condie
I saw this cover for the first time while I was at the YA Editors Buzz Panel at BEA, and fell in love with it. That year at BEA I was hunting the aisles for Matched until I found it!
Firelight by Sophie Jordan
This was another book I saw during the YA Editors Buzz Panel at BEA. Just like Matched, after I saw the Firelight cover it became one of the main books I tried to locate that year.
Wither by Lauren DeStefano
Love this cover! It’s so unique, and really stuck out to me. Loved the book as well.
Glimmerglass by Jenna Black
The cover is so mystical! It’s one of those covers that just stuck in my mind. The first book was great, and I need to read the rest of the series.
Incarnate by Jodi Meadows
This book isn’t out yet, but the cover is so pretty! The description sounds like the type of book I would enjoy as well. I would love a review copy, but right now I’m patiently waiting until its release day.
Tris & Izzie by Mette Ivie Harrison
This is one of my favorite covers! It looks like artwork. I would love to have it enlarged, framed, and on my wall.
Delirium by Lauren Oliver (Original ARC Cover)
I never understood WHY her publisher decided to not use the original ARC cover for Delirium. This was one of my favorite covers at BEA that year — just by the cover I could tell it was a book I was going to love (and I did love it!) The original ARC cover was the best, and I wish they had kept it.
The Beginning of After by Jennifer Castle
I love the colors in this one. So pretty!
